Children and Youth
The Children and Youth Ministry of Calvary Baptist Church focuses on the support and nurturing of these age groups in our church and community. It’s our mission to provide encouragement, guidance and positive reinforcement as they grow and begin to establish their own Christian identity.
To respond to community needs, we invite coordination and collaboration with other churches, 
youth-serving agencies, schools and all who are interested in serving and saving our youth.
Children’s Choir
Children love singing once a month – songs that increase their Biblical knowledge and express their faith. Many of these songs will stay with them long after they are children.
More Fine Arts
Youth are active in the Stepping, Dance, Flagging, and Drama ministries, giving them opportunities to be creative and increase their presentation skills, as well as make meaningful contributions to worship services.
Sunday School
Children and Youth learn about Jesus and expand their spiritual foundation in Sunday School in age-appropriate classes. They also learn to apply Christian principles in their daily life.
At Calvary we believe that a strong Christian foundation allows children to operate differently in the world than if they didn’t have this background.
Teachers are trained and dedicated and use Bible stories, songs, crafts, prayer, and presentations in their teaching so that it’s enjoyable for the children.
Participants also prepare and participate in special programs, such as those for Christmas, Black History Month, and Youth Day.
A Back-to-School event occurs in the fall with gifts of backpacks and school supplies. Most recently, his event served over 350 children. A multi-church Black History Quiz competition, started by Calvary Baptist Church, has become a popular annual event.
Men of the church lead boys ages 5 through 12 in their development as Christian males. An African-American centered curriculum is the basis of this program, which occurs monthly.

Girls ages 5 through 12 are led by women of the church in a development 
program enhancing their growth as Christian females. An African-

Girls 5 through 17, in an accepting and nurturing environment, build character and skills for success, in partnership with committed adult volunteers. Girls discover, lead and take action, building skills that develop courage, confidence and character in an African-American Christian setting.

The Boy Scout Troop at Calvary Baptist Church welcomes boys ages 6 through 16 for a youth development program which helps prepare for their futures through developing a sense of well-being and compassion and discourage youth from engaging in risky lifestyles in an African American Christian setting.

Boys from ages 13 through 18 can have fun and develop their skills on the court by being a member of Calvary’s basketball team.
The team participates in the Christian Fellowship Basketball League during that season, which includes several churches in Milwaukee.

Teen Workshops
Various workshops and activities are available to help youth successfully navigate the teen years. Qualified leadership is provided.
Vacation Bible School
This week-long summer program for all ages has expanded in numbers and now also includes adults. As with all programs, non-members and members are included. Suppers, lots of activities, and teaching bring people to Christ and strengthen the faith of believers.
